Christmas 2006

Liam points (a five-fingered point) to the Christmas tree and claims the spot where Santa is going to leave his presents.

Liam received a Tickle-Me-Elmo "Extreme" for Christmas. I have to say that, having an engineering backgroud, I was duly impressed with the weight distribution and balance capabilities of Mr. Elmo for the maneuvers that he was able to perform. Liam, on the other hand, was rather frightened by all of the hysterical laughing coming from this furry, mechanized being. Liam was almost to tears when Elmo uprighted himself and touched him on the arm. Needless to say, Elmo had to sit in the corner for a few hours before he could come back out and play.

Dick and Jan, along with Great-Grandma Berquist joined us for the week of Christmas. We all had lots of fun and received lots of good stuff. We're still cleaning up the mess...

Now that Liam has turned 1, he figured it was time to gain a little independence. He has started standing on his own, circling the furniture, and walking short distances. Grandpa lends a helping finger while Liam practices his moves.

The birthday boy!!

We had to cancel our original party plans, but we celebrated Liam's birthday a few days later. Liam didn't seem to mind.

He got a kick out of hitting the balloons and watching them slowly float down.

We were expecting (hoping) for a face full of cake, but he wasn't in the mood for so much chocolate. That's too bad, 'cause it was a really good cake - compliments of Mom!!

He got lots of cool toys for his birthday, eventhough its only days before Christmas.
